Pet Guide

Pets are one of the strongest progression systems in Arcana Historia. They provide both active combat power and team-wide passive buffs.

How Pets Work

Slot System — Positions 1, 2, 3

You have 3 pet slots (unlocked via the Pet Fence building):

Slot Role Unlocked At What It Does
Slot 1 (Active) Combat Pet Pet Fence Lv 0 Pet physically fights alongside your team. Uses auto-attacks + active skill.
Slot 2 (Bench) Passive Aura Pet Fence Lv 7 Pet does NOT fight. Its passive talent buffs your entire team.
Slot 3 (Bench) Passive Aura Pet Fence Lv 14 Same as Slot 2 — another team-wide passive aura.

Critical: Bench pet passives apply to your ENTIRE team, not just one hero. This makes them incredibly efficient.

Key rules:

  • Passives are tagged "Only active when NOT in combat slot" — they ONLY work in slots 2 and 3
  • You can swap your active pet mid-run, but there's a 120-second cooldown between swaps
  • Pets in bench slots contribute 6% of their stats to your heroes (inheritance ratio)
  • Slot 2 and Slot 3 are identical — there is no difference between them. Pick your two best passives.

Which Pet Goes Where?

Slot 1 (Active) — Always your tankiest or most useful active skill pet:

  • Bat (Vampirism heal) is the default best for sustain
  • Mars (Combo) for auto-attack builds that want extra hits
  • Halo (Dispel) for shield-heavy boss floors

Slots 2 & 3 (Bench) — Always your two strongest passive talents:

  • These are your biggest team-wide multipliers
  • Order between slot 2 and 3 doesn't matter — both activate equally
  • Prioritize passives that match your team's damage type

Pet Stats

Pets have their own HP, ATK, DEF growths. The active pet fights using these stats.

  • Growth ranges are random within a defined range per pet species
  • Stats are multiplied by the pet's quality ratio

Pet Quality

Quality Ratio Level Cap Upgrade Cost
E 0.24 (24%) Low Starting quality
D 0.32 (32%) Medium 240 rare points
C 0.425 (42.5%) Medium 240 rare points
B 0.565 (56.5%) High 720 rare points
A 0.752 (75.2%) High 3,000 rare points
S 1.0 (100%) Max 76,800 rare points

Quality upgrade is the single biggest stat multiplier for your active pet. Going from E (24%) to S (100%) is a 4.17x stat increase.

Pet Skills

Active Skill (Combat Pet Only)

Each pet has a unique active combat skill that triggers in battle:

  • Unlocked and upgraded by reaching star levels (★1 through ★5)
  • Higher stars = stronger skill effects
  • Star-up requires specific food items + reaching level thresholds

Passive Ability (Bench Only)

Each pet has one passive ability with 5 upgrade levels:

  • Applies to your entire team when the pet is on the bench
  • Upgrades cost gold + pet-specific materials + rare crystals
  • This is where most of your pet investment gold should go

Pet Feeding & Raising

Food Types

  • Each pet has 4 preferred food types
  • Preferred food gives bonus points (check the "is_prefer" field)
  • Snacks also build up pet points for various bonuses

Pet Products

  • Pets produce items over time (like a farm)
  • Products include: rare crystals, gold, pet materials
  • Higher quality pets produce more/better items

Pet Hatching

  • New pets come from Pet Eggs
  • Eggs obtained from: shop, gacha, events
  • Each egg has a hatch time (varies by pet rarity)

Priority: Where to Invest

Gold Priority for Pets

  1. Bench pet passive upgrades (Levels 1→5) — biggest team-wide impact
  2. Active pet quality upgrades (E→D→C→...) — biggest stat jump for combat
  3. Active pet star-ups — unlock stronger combat skills
  4. Pet food — keep pets leveled for better stat contribution

Which Pets to Prioritize

Active Pet (Combat):

Pet Why
小蝙蝠 (Bat) Heals random ally on each auto-attack (15% ATK). Best sustain.
迅猛龙 ( Raptor) High ATK growth, strong combat stats

Bench Pets (Passive Priority):

Pet Passive Effect at Max Why
Raptor Swift +55% ATK Speed for team Massive DPS multiplier
Cave Spider Corrode -45% enemy Poison Resist Essential for Poison Archer builds
Lava Raptor Lethal +50% Crit for team Universal DPS boost
Metal Slime Iron Wall DEF + DR for team Survivability
Bat Bloodthirst Team auto-attack heals 10→20% ATK (0.5s CD at max) Sustain

F2P Pet Strategy

Early Game (Depth 0–50)

  1. Use whichever pet you hatch first as active
  2. Get Bat as active ASAP for healing
  3. Bench 1: Raptor (ATK speed passive) if available
  4. Start upgrading bench passives with gold — Level 1 is cheap

Mid Game (Depth 50–120)

  1. Push active pet to Quality C minimum
  2. Upgrade Raptor passive to Level 2–3
  3. Add Cave Spider if running Poison Archer
  4. Start working on a second bench passive

Late Game (Depth 120+)

  1. Target active pet Quality B→A
  2. All bench passives to Level 3–4
  3. Consider specialized bench pets based on team comp
  4. Quality S (76,800 rare points) is a long-term whale/endgame goal
