Arena & PvP Guide

The Arena is Arcana Historia's PvP mode where you compete against other players' teams for ranking rewards. This guide covers how the Arena works, then dives into build adjustments, team comps, and strategy for PvP success.

How Arena Works

  • Your team fights other players' AI-controlled teams
  • Matchmaking is bracket-based by division
  • You get limited attempts per day
  • Rewards scale with your division rank

Arena Divisions

Arena Division

Arena uses a tiered division system. Higher divisions provide better rewards including diamonds, cards, and pet materials.

How PvP Differs from PvE

Aspect PvE (Abyss) PvP (Arena)
Enemy AI Predictable patterns, telegraphed attacks Player-built teams with optimized rotations
Fight Length Sustained — minutes-long boss fights Burst — matches decided in 10-20 seconds
Positioning Tank holds aggro, backline is safe No aggro system — everyone is a target
Damage Profile Sustained DPS wins Front-loaded burst wins
Survivability HP + DEF + healing sustain Anti-Crit + burst resistance + CC immunity
Healing Value Critical for deep Abyss Often irrelevant — targets die before heals matter

Key Takeaway

In PvE, you build for consistency: sustain damage, keep the tank alive, and outlast the boss. In PvP, you build for who kills who first. Burst damage, crit chance, and crowd control are king. Sustained DoT builds (like Poison Archer) lose value because the fight ends before ticks add up.

Gem Swaps for PvP

PvP gem setups differ from PvE in two key ways: you want more burst on offense and more anti-crit on defense.

Offensive Swaps (Weapon / Ring)

PvE Setup PvP Swap Reason
Element gems ( Emerald, Cobalt, etc.) Replace 1-2 with Topaz (Crit) Crit = burst. One big crit in PvP > steady element DPS
Ruby (ATK) only Add Amethyst (Crit DMG) if near crit cap Crit damage multiplier decides fights
Full element (e.g., 5 Emerald) Drop to 3 Element + 2 Topaz Element scaling matters less in short fights

Defensive Swaps (Armor / Amulet)

PvE Setup PvP Swap Reason
Diamond (All Resist) on Amulet Garnet (Anti-Crit) on Amulet Enemy DPS are crit-stacking — reduce their burst
6x Emerald (HP) Replace 1-2 Emerald with Garnet (Anti-Crit) Surviving a crit combo > having more HP
Sapphire (DEF) on tanks Keep Sapphire — DEF still matters Physical burst is common in PvP

Example: Quintuple Archer PvP Gem Setup

Equipment Socket 1 Socket 2 Socket 3
Weapon Ruby (ATK) Ruby (ATK) Topaz (Crit)
Ring Ruby (ATK) Topaz (Crit) Amethyst (Crit DMG)
Armor Emerald (HP) Emerald (HP) Garnet (Anti-Crit)
Amulet Emerald (HP) Garnet (Anti-Crit) Garnet (Anti-Crit)

The extra Garnet on Amulet is the single biggest PvP upgrade you can make. Enemy Quintuple Archers with Fear of Fear will crit constantly — Garnet directly counters this.

Affix Priorities for PvP

PvE affix priorities focus on sustained DPS (ATK%, DMG%, element flat). PvP shifts toward burst multipliers.

Offensive Affixes (Weapon)

Priority Affix PvP Value
1 Crit DMG% Directly multiplies your burst hits
2 Crit Value More crits = more burst
3 ATK% Bigger base for crit scaling
4 DMG% General amplifier
5 Skill DMG% Good but less reliable than crit

Defensive Affixes (Armor)

Priority Affix PvP Value
1 DR% (Damage Reduction) Flat percentage off all incoming damage
2 HP flat Survive the first burst combo
3 Anti-Crit Value Stacks with Garnet gems
4 DEF% Reduces physical burst

Element resist affixes are nearly useless in PvP. Most Arena DPS are physical (Quintuple Shot, Whirlwind) or crit-based. Prioritize DR% and Anti-Crit over any element-specific resist.

Best PvP Team Comps

Burst Team — Kill Before They React

Slot Hero Role
DPS 1 Quintuple Shot Archer Primary burst — 5-8 arrows with crit stacking
DPS 2 Whirlwind Warrior AoE pressure — forces enemy to spread or die grouped
Support Ice Mage Freeze CC — locks targets in place for burst follow-up

How it works: Ice Mage freezes the enemy backline. Quintuple Archer unloads into the frozen target for guaranteed crits (frozen targets can't dodge). Whirlwind Warrior cleans up grouped enemies. Fights end in under 10 seconds.

Weakness: No sustain. If the burst fails, you lose to any team with healing.

Control Team — Lock Them Down

Slot Hero Role
Tank Taunt Warrior Forces enemy DPS to hit you instead of your carries
DPS Poison Archer Sustained damage through CC — poison ticks ignore freeze/stun
Healer Healer Mage Keeps Taunt Warrior alive through enemy burst

How it works: Taunt Warrior absorbs the enemy burst. Healer Mage sustains through it. Poison Archer stacks poison on the enemy team — once 3 layers are up on multiple targets, the DoT pressure becomes unmanageable. Wins by attrition.

Weakness: Loses to pure burst teams that kill the Taunt Warrior before heals kick in. Also weak to cleanse/debuff removal.

Stall Team — Outlast Everything

Slot Hero Role
Tank Shield Wall Warrior 40% team DR + 50% all resist — unkillable wall
Healer Healer Mage Constant healing to sustain through any damage
DPS Any DPS (Quintuple Archer recommended) Slow but steady damage while the enemy fails to kill you

How it works: Shield Wall's 40% DR + 50% all resist + Healer sustain makes the team nearly unkillable. The DPS slowly whittles down the enemy. Wins the timer if the fight goes long.

Weakness: Pure burst teams can sometimes overwhelm the DR. Also loses to teams with heal reduction or anti-heal mechanics.

SP Heroes PvP Tier List

S Tier — Meta-Defining

Hero Why They're Broken
Crow (不死鸟/Immortality Field) Immortality Field prevents all deaths for the team for its duration. In PvP, this completely negates the enemy's burst window. Pop it when the enemy commits their cooldowns, then counter-attack while they have nothing left. Single-handedly warps the meta.
Hakuya (白夜/Ice Burst) 20x ice scaling + Tier 2 converts ice ATK to crit. In PvP, this means guaranteed crits on frozen targets with massive ice multipliers. Freeze lock duration is long enough to kill most heroes before they can act. Pairs with Silver Knight card for +80% ice amp.

A Tier — Excellent Picks

Hero Why They're Strong
Roud (琉德/Stance Switch) Switches between offensive and defensive stances. In PvP, open in offensive stance for burst, then swap to defensive if the fight goes long. The versatility makes Roud unpredictable and hard to counter-build against.
Row (鋏/Gravity Pull) Gravity Pull groups all enemies together. In PvP, this sets up devastating AoE combos — Whirlwind Warrior or Ice Mage hitting a grouped enemy team is often an instant win. The pull also interrupts enemy skill casts.

B Tier — Solid but Situational

Hero Notes
Alpha (EM Shield) Strong tank, but Taunt Warrior does the job well enough for free
Guren (Red Lotus) Good burst DPS, but outclassed by Hakuya's freeze + burst combo
Beta (EM Beam) DEF-ignoring damage is nice, but no CC or utility

Card Choices for PvP

Best PvP Cards

Card Quality PvP Use
Fear of Fear (恐惧之眼) ★4 Best burst card. +20% auto DMG, stacking ATK speed + crit. Quintuple Shot builds stacks fast — reaches high stacks quickly. Absolute monster on any multi-hit DPS.
Silver Knight (银骑士) ★4 Best CC card. Converts auto-attacks to ice + stacks ice amp. At 20 stacks: +80% ice amp + freeze on every hit. Put this on your Ice Mage for permanent freeze lock.
Rock Dragon (岩龙) ★4 Best tank card. DEF → ATK conversion + stacking DEF buff. Makes Taunt Warrior or Shield Wall nearly unkillable while still generating threat.

PvP Card Tips

  • Fear of Fear on Quintuple Archer is the single strongest PvP combination in the game. The 5-hit burst builds stacks faster than any other skill.
  • Silver Knight on Ice Mage turns your CC into permanent lockdown. Once stacks are up, the enemy cannot act.
  • Rock Dragon on Shield Wall gives your tank enough DEF to stall any burst team.
  • Avoid sustained-value cards like Forest Queen (poison ramp) or Gem Spider (skill DMG stacking) — fights end before they reach full value.

Pet Adjustments for PvP

General Rule

In PvE, ATK Speed (Raptor) is king because longer fights benefit from more total attacks. In PvP, Crit (Lava Raptor) is better because each attack needs to hit as hard as possible.

PvP Pet Setup — Burst Comp

Slot Pet Passive PvP Value
Active 小蝙蝠 (Bat) Team heal Still the best active — keeps you alive through the first exchange
Bench 1 熔岩龙 (Lava Raptor) +Crit More crits = more burst. Direct upgrade over Raptor for PvP
Bench 2 迅猛龙 ( Raptor) +ATK Speed Still useful, but secondary to crit in burst comps

PvP Pet Setup — Stall Comp

Slot Pet Passive PvP Value
Active 小蝙蝠 (Bat) Team heal Essential for sustain
Bench 1 洞穴蜘蛛 (Cave Spider) +DEF More tank survivability
Bench 2 迅猛龙 ( Raptor) +ATK Speed Faster heals from your Healer Mage

Key swap: In burst comps, replace Raptor (Bench 1) with Lava Raptor. The crit chance increase on your Quintuple Archer or Hakuya is worth far more than the ATK speed in a fight that lasts 10-15 seconds.

Tips for Climbing

  1. Attack weaker teams first — Build win streaks for bonus points
  2. Refresh opponents if all are too strong
  3. Use your attempts daily — Don't let them cap
  4. Invest in burst — Kills before the enemy healer can stabilize
  5. Review losing replays — Identify what's killing your team

Quick Reference: PvE to PvP Checklist

  1. Swap 1-2 element gems for Topaz (Crit) on Weapon/Ring
  2. Swap Diamond (All Resist) for Garnet (Anti-Crit) on Amulet
  3. Consider a second Garnet on Armor (replacing one Emerald)
  4. Re-roll affixes toward Crit DMG and DR%
  5. Switch to Fear of Fear card on your main DPS
  6. Swap Raptor bench pet for Lava Raptor on burst teams
  7. Prioritize burst team comp over sustained/DoT comps
