Why Great Fireball Has the Highest Burst

  1. 15x base → 45x at Tier 1 Branch 1 — The highest fire scaling of any standard mage skill in the game
  2. 400% physical + 400% fire base — Massive base multipliers before scaling even applies
  3. T3A Supernova every 20s — Guaranteed crit with 2x DMG and 2x range, creating enormous burst windows
  4. Boar King card gives double/triple cast — Multiplies your already-massive hits by 2 or 3
  5. T4A +30% skill DMG stacking (max 10) — Ramps to +300% sustained bonus, turning every cast into a nuke

Double/Triple Cast Mechanic: When a skill is cast, 35% chance to instantly repeat it (5% chance to fire THREE times) at no cooldown cost. With Great Fireball's 45x fire scaling, a double or triple cast can delete entire screens. During Supernova windows (T3A guaranteed crit), a triple-cast Supernova is the single highest damage event a mage can produce. The +80% Skill DMG base multiplier applies to every cast.

Better sustained DPS between cooldowns since it amplifies all fire damage, not just skill casts. Boar King wins for burst windows with double/triple cast; Flame Lord wins for consistent output and fire scaling.

Why Boar King over Flame Lord? Boar King's 35% double-cast and 5% triple-cast chances multiply Great Fireball's already-massive base damage. A double-cast Supernova (guaranteed crit, 2x DMG, 2x range) is the highest single damage event a mage can produce. Flame Lord provides +100% Fire Amp for consistent output, but Boar King's burst potential is unmatched. In endgame content, one triple-cast Supernova can clear an entire Abyss floor. Flame Lord is better for sustained fights without burst windows.

Alt: Flame Lord — ★4

+500 Fire DMG, +100% Fire Amp. Use for sustained DPS between cooldowns. Better consistent output but lacks Boar King's explosive burst. Combined with Burning of suit set's fire resist shred, Flame Lord provides devastating sustained fire damage.

Budget: Fire Sprite (★3)

Skill hits apply a burn DoT. Adds consistent damage between Great Fireball cooldowns.

Why Burning of suit for Blast: The 4pc -15% enemy Fire Resist every 8 seconds creates stacking fire resist shred that compounds with Great Fireball's 45x fire scaling. At 45x scaling, every point of fire resist reduction translates to enormous damage gains. The 2pc +15% Crit Rate ensures non-Supernova casts also crit (Supernova is guaranteed crit, but regular casts aren't). The 3pc +15% Fire ATK% directly increases your fire base, which is multiplied by the 45x scaling. The synergy chain: Crimson base → +15% Fire ATK% (Burning of suit 3pc) → 45x fire scaling → +80% Skill DMG (Boar King) → -15% enemy Fire Resist (Burning of suit 4pc, stacking) → 35% double-cast chance (Boar King). Every layer multiplies the others.

Burning of suit frees a crit gem slot: Without the set, you need Topaz to crit on non-Supernova casts. With 2pc giving +15% Crit Rate, regular Great Fireballs crit reliably enough to drop the Topaz. The freed slot becomes a 5th Crimson, which at 45x fire scaling is worth far more than the Topaz.
