Why Fireball Chain is Best Sustained Fire DPS

Spell Weaving Mechanic: Every skill cast adds a +20% Skill DMG stack for 10s (max 30 stacks = +600% Skill DMG). Each stack also reduces your cooldowns by 0.05s, so at 30 stacks you have -1.5s off all CDs. With Fireball Chain's 9 missiles (T1A), each missile that hits counts toward stack building — a single cast can build massive stacks. At max stacks, your missiles deal 7x their normal damage. When stacks expire, an Arcane Missile fires for 150% all-element DMG as a bonus.

Strong Alternative: Flame Lord (★4, Mage)

+500 Fire DMG, +50-100% Fire Amp. Higher raw fire amplification than Gem Spider card but lacks the Spell Weaving stacking. Better for short fights; Gem Spider card wins in sustained combat.

Why Gem Spider over Flame Lord? In sustained fights, Gem Spider's +600% Skill DMG at 30 Spell Weaving stacks dwarfs Flame Lord's +100% Fire Amp. Firebolt fires 9 missiles per cast (T1A), and each missile hit builds Spell Weaving stacks — a single cast can add 9 stacks. At 30 stacks, your missiles deal 7x normal damage. Flame Lord provides higher raw fire amplification (+100% vs Gem Spider's 0%), but the +600% Skill DMG multiplier on top of 15x fire scaling creates a larger total multiplier. Flame Lord wins only in fights shorter than 10 seconds where stacking isn't possible.

Alt: Flame Lord — ★4

+500 Fire DMG, +100% Fire Amp. Use for short fights (Abyss speed farming, PvP) where you can't build Spell Weaving stacks. Superior front-loaded damage but lacks exponential scaling.

Budget: Fire Sprite (★3)

Why Lava of suit is made for Firebolt: The 3pc and 4pc literally name Firebolt. The 3pc +25% Crit on Firebolt feeds directly into T4A's crit loop (each crit: +10% Crit DMG, +5% Fire Amp, max 30 stacks). More crits = faster stacking = exponential damage growth. The 4pc +25% Firebolt DMG is a direct multiplier on every missile. The 2pc +15% Skill DMG stacks with Gem Spider's +600% Spell Weaving for a combined +615% Skill DMG at max stacks. The full chain: 9 missiles → each crits at +25% (Lava of suit 3pc) → each crit builds T4A stacks (+300% Crit DMG, +150% Fire Amp at 30 stacks) → all multiplied by +625% Skill DMG (Gem Spider + Lava of suit) → 15x fire scaling on every hit.

Lava of suit frees a gem slot: Without the set, you need Topaz to seed T4A crit stacking. With 3pc giving +25% Firebolt Crit, 9 missiles per cast each have a 25%+ chance to crit — that's enough to reliably trigger the crit loop within 1-2 casts. The freed slot becomes another Crimson, which feeds the 15x fire scaling chain.
